Chapter Ten

Daylight brought Blake wide awake, the early morning sunlight streaming in through the window. Gina had forgotten to close the drapes the previous night. He smiled, remembering why. It had been too long since he’d slept with a woman in his arms. They were laying spoon fashion, her back to his front. If he didn’t crawl out of bed soon, she’d wake with his early morning erection prodding her backside. Grinning, he eased his arm out from under her and slipped out of bed, padding barefoot to the bathroom.

The sight of the shower had his grin widening. Blake stooped to collect their damp towels, throwing them over the shower rod, then hung up her robe and slipped into his uniform pants. He really needed to go home for a change of clothing. This was his weekend off and he hoped to spend it right where he was. With a little luck, he might not even need clothes.

He went through to the kitchen, rummaged around until he found the ground coffee and started a pot brewing, then cleared the table of last night’s feast. Next, he looked in the fridge. Eggs, green pepper, onion, cheese, and leftover chicken were placed on the counter as he set to work making omelettes for breakfast. They were almost ready when he sensed her presence.

Turning, he saw her, standing there wearing his shirt, a smile, and…nothing else. He gulped. Her hair tousled from sleep completed the picture of a woman well loved. She was gorgeous. “Good morning, beautiful. Sleep well?”

“Yes, very well. How about you?”

She seemed shy asking the question. Morning-after nerves? He hoped she wasn’t regretting yesterday’s loving.

“I slept the sleep of the dead and woke up very much alive. Coffee’s ready, and breakfast, almost.” He popped a couple slices of bread into the toaster and retrieved two plates from the cupboard. Gina brushed up against him reaching for a cup, sending his libido into high alert. He pulled her close for a morning kiss, then turned to dish up their plates. The toast popped and he buttered it, then set both plates on the table. She poured their coffees then sat opposite him at the table.

“Mmmm, this smells heavenly. I don’t usually eat much for breakfast.”

“Today you do, so dig in.” He attacked his food with gusto to keep his hands busy or he’d be carrying her back to bed. Food be damned. Glancing up, he surprised a look of pure desire on her face. “What are you thinking?”

She smiled at him. “You make a mean omelette.”

“And?” he asked, arching an eyebrow.

“And I’m glad you stayed the night.”

Ahhh. There you have it. No regrets. “I’m glad, too. Now eat up. If I have my way, you’re going to need your energy.”

“Ooohhh, sounds promising,” she teased, taking a sip of her coffee.

“Do you have any classes today?”

“Yes, I have teens coming in at two o’clock. Why?”

“Just wondering how much time we have. You don’t teach on Sundays, do you?”

“Nope.”

“Good. It’s my weekend off and I’d enjoy spending it with you, if that’s all right?”

Gina rose and walked toward him.
